We’ll be back soon, they say. These grateful people aren’t hungry clients of ours.
They are volunteers.
Every day, they thank us for the opportunity to give back to our community.
They are college students and corporate executives, Girl Scout troops and retirees, organizations and individuals from all walks of life.
All have given time from their busy workdays, weekends and evenings to help people they will probably never meet.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Operation Food Search. With a staff of only 23, we rely on the amazing efforts and contributions from our community.
Together, we are people helping people.
In the past year, our organization had over 4,800 volunteers contribute more than 16,500 hours of service. This saved our organization $372,000 that we used toward our programs and services.
April is National Volunteer Month, a time when we honor and offer a heartfelt thanks to the collective impact of your hard work, dedication and valuable time to assist the operations, programs and mission of Operation Food Search.
Many of our volunteers say while they don’t personally know the people they are helping by packing food for hungry kids and families, they tell us “I feel like I’m changing somebody’s life.”
You can’t put a price on that.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
